“By the way, if you are going to blog you have to do new content once in awhile, even if it is only once a month.” -David 3.20.2018
“Oh yeah, I have a blog…but I haven’t posted in awhile, I should probably get around to that..” -Me to friend Laura over dinner 3.3.2018
Why hello there beautiful people! Tis I! The great and powerful Oz…um, oops, I mean the amazing Carolyski Marie
Where were we? Oh yes, I opened myself up to you at the beginning of January, and by David’s standards that means I am two months behind!!! So here we go. How to summarize my time apart from you.
I think that we can all agree that February flew by…here in Minnesota there was all this hoopla about some sort of game…what was it?? Croquet world championship? Underwater Basket Weaving Extreme Championship? No, you say…well, what could it be?? Oh yes, that’s right, the football game (in college we were told we could not call it by its real name due to trademarks, and I really don’t want my blog shut down over that, so we shall just say “that big football game”-DA BIG UN, DONCHA KNOW?!) That was exciting, perhaps those outside of retail might feel that it was a bit anticlimactic, but since I am apart of the retail world, and am used to abrupt seasonal changes, it was a nice and exciting event. Then it was over and we were ready to be onto the next! I did sneak downtown to check it out. It was very exciting, but extremely cold, even by Minnesota standards. If anything, it was a good opportunity to go exploring. Nicollet Mall is not an area of the Minnie-Apple that I have explored. Shout out to Hop Cat, a neat bar/restaurant that features a wide variety of beers and, wait for it…CATTAILS!!!!!
Overall, February flew by way too fast, and at the end of the month, I couldn’t help to feel like I had squandered my time, which was very upsetting to me. And by squandered, I am most certainly not referring to my shenanigans in Minneapolis, but rather, my lack thereof outside of that day. So I did what Carolynski does best. Pondered, and pondered. Then I came up with a short list of things that I wanted to see happen in my life more regularly. And being the office organization supply freak that I am, I came up with this:

Quite spiffy, eh? Since moving back to the area, I was struggling balancing work and the fact that a ton of people I love live all around me. I put this into place for the month of March. I have obviously flunked some days of the week, such as Mondays, but I will work on that. What has happened though, is that I have built a stronger relationship with my dad, since I have committed to seeing him once a week, which does help me feel a smidgen better about how I am spending my time on this earth.
Overall, I think I can say that I have gotten better at not squandering my time. When you’re scheduled 50 irregular/inconsistent hours a week, it is very easy to just go to work, come home, sleep, repeat. I keep trying to challenge myself to get out of that nasty habit. And if you see a recap of my month below, you can see that I have done a somewhat better job at not being an antisocial hermit.

Hmmm…ok, I guess I didn’t do a whole lot…but it is a lot more than what I was doing. I promise to get better to keeping my Monday commitment with you all.
I hope that you all had a wonderful Easter, or spring holiday, or weekend, whatever it is you celebrate. And I will be back in a week to check in with you. May your April bring you tons of happiness, as we step out of the dark of winter into the light of spring!
Catch ya on the flip side,
Carolynski Marie
